The biggest SEO problem for wearable brands is that the obvious searches belong to someone else. Here’s how we find the ones you can win, and build for them on Shopify.
1. Accept that the head term isn’t yours yet#
“Smartwatch” and “fitness tracker” are owned by the biggest brands and the biggest review sites. Chasing them first wastes months. Start where buyers already know what they need, because those searches are closer to a purchase anyway.
2. Map the filters buyers actually use#
Phone (iPhone or Android), health metric (sleep, heart rate, blood oxygen, HRV), sport (running, swimming, cycling), battery life, water rating, case size, age group and subscription or no subscription. Each filter with real demand and enough matching products becomes a page.
3. Store specs as data, not images#
Compatibility, water rating (5ATM, IP68), battery days, sensors, screen type and case size go into metafields and print as text on every product page. Google and AI assistants can read text. They can’t read the spec graphic from your factory deck.
4. Build collections where demand meets products#
“Smartwatches for iPhone”, “fitness trackers for swimming”, “smart rings without subscription”, “kids’ GPS watches with calling”. Each gets its own URL, a title written for that search, a short intro, the right products and the FAQs buyers ask.
5. Write the comparisons buyers already search#
Your ring against the one everyone compares it with, your watch against the big-brand model at twice the price. Be honest about where yours doesn’t win. Fair comparisons are easier for buyers to trust and for AI assistants to quote.
6. Keep health language accurate#
Describe what each sensor measures and how, without diagnosing. Where a feature touches medical rules, we keep the wording factual, link official sources and date the page.
