Shopify SEO for Sauna & Cold Plunge Brands

A home sauna or cold plunge is a backyard project as much as a purchase. Buyers search for capacity, heater type, voltage and where it will sit, and they read for weeks before they order. Most stores answer with a gallery and a price. We build the pages and guides that answer those questions and win the searches.

The short version

What we do for sauna and cold plunge brands

SmartEcomSEO is a Shopify-only SEO agency based in Shenzhen. For brands selling infrared and traditional saunas, barrel and outdoor saunas, cold plunge tubs and chillers, and hot tubs, we build the pages buyers search for while they plan: collections by type, capacity, wood and power, electrical and site prep answers written as text, and careful guides that compare options without medical claims.

Our numbers come from other categories. One keyword we moved from page 3 to page 1 brought in a $130,000 single order. An automotive accessories brand made $758,772.94 in organic revenue in seven months, and a tech brand took its Domain Rating from 12 to 41 in 100 days.

Sound familiar?

The problems we hear from sauna and cold plunge brands

Issue 01

“Every customer asks if they need an electrician.”

Voltage, amps and breaker size live in a spec PDF. Buyers searching “plug and play sauna” or “240V sauna heater” never find your answer.

Issue 02

“Wellness blogs rank for every question, then link to someone else.”

Searches about infrared vs traditional or how cold a plunge should be go to blogs and affiliate sites. Your store isn’t part of the research.

Issue 03

“We’re not sure what we’re allowed to say about benefits.”

So the pages say nothing, or say too much. Neither helps. There is a careful middle ground that still ranks.

Issue 04

“Our barrel sauna comes in four sizes, three woods and two heaters.”

Every combination turns into another URL with the same text, and Google ranks the wrong size for the search.

Issue 05

“Shoppers can’t compare infrared and traditional on our site.”

They leave to find a comparison, and the site that explains it best often gets the sale.

Issue 06

“Freight, assembly and foundations scare people at checkout.”

A concrete pad, a level base, a freight truck and two people for a day. If buyers can’t picture it, they wait.

The playbook

Answer the planning questions before buyers have to ask

Sauna and cold plunge buyers aren’t only choosing a product. They’re planning a space, a power supply and a base. The stores that answer those questions in text win the searches and the sale. Here’s how we do it on Shopify.

1. Organize the catalog the way buyers choose#

Traditional vs infrared, indoor vs outdoor, barrel vs cabin vs cube, capacity in persons, wood type. For cold plunge: tubs with a built-in chiller, standalone chillers, rigid vs inflatable. Each choice becomes a collection with its own URL, intro and FAQs.

2. Put the electrical requirements on every product page#

Voltage, amps, recommended breaker, plug-in or hardwired, heater power in kW. Written as text, stored in metafields and filterable. This is the most asked question in the category, and the clearest way to win “120V sauna” and “plug and play cold plunge” searches.

3. Show capacity and dimensions properly#

How many people, interior bench depth, outside footprint, height, door swing, and for tubs, the filled weight. Buyers putting a plunge on a deck need that last number.

4. Explain the woods and materials#

Canadian red cedar, thermally modified wood, spruce and hemlock. Acrylic, stainless steel and rotomolded tubs. A comparison page and a collection for each, so the buyer understands the price difference.

5. Publish site prep guides#

Base options (concrete pad, pavers, compacted gravel), clearances, drainage, and a plain note that permit and electrical rules vary by city and HOA, so buyers should check locally and use a licensed electrician. General, accurate, never legal advice.

6. Handle wellness content carefully#

Describe the experience, the routine, temperatures and safety basics. Link reputable sources, add an author and a review date, and leave out treatment claims. Pages like that rank, and they don’t put your brand at risk.

Content that closes

Answer the questions buyers ask before they order

Sauna and plunge buyers want to know three things: which type suits me, what does my home need, and how does it get installed. Pages that answer those clearly rank for long searches that blogs answer vaguely and marketplaces don’t answer at all.

We write wellness topics with care. No treatment claims, sources linked, an author and a review date on every page.

  • Traditional vs infrared saunas, honestly compared
  • Electrical guide: 120V vs 240V, breaker sizes and when you need an electrician
  • Foundation and site prep guides for outdoor saunas, plunges and hot tubs
  • Cold plunge chiller sizing, water care and winter use
  • Your model vs the two brands buyers compare you with

Technical

Technical problems specific to sauna and cold plunge stores

  • Size, wood and heater duplicates

One model repeated across options with copied text, given one clear main page.

  • Electrical specs as text

Voltage, amps, breaker and kW stored in metafields and printed on the page, not only in PDFs.

  • Heavy galleries and configurators

Large photos, 360 tours, build-your-own tools and financing widgets slowing mobile pages.

  • Product schema

Price, availability, brand, reviews and shipping details matched to Merchant Center.

  • Author and review details

Named authors, sources and review dates on wellness and safety pages, shown on the page and in markup.

  • Market versions

US 120V and 240V models vs UK and EU 230V, metric sizes and different prices, connected with hreflang.

People also ask

Questions sauna and cold plunge brands ask us

Can we talk about health benefits on our pages?

Carefully. We describe the experience, temperatures, routines and safety basics, link reputable sources and add an author and review date. We do not write treatment or cure claims. Health claims are regulated in most markets, so anything beyond general information should be checked by your own advisers.

Should infrared and traditional saunas be in separate collections?

Yes. Buyers search for them separately and they have different needs: heat source, temperature, power and installation. Separate collections with their own intros, plus a comparison page linking both, rank better than one mixed “Saunas” grid.

How much should we say about electrical work and permits?

Give the full specs for every product: voltage, amps, breaker size, plug-in or hardwired. Then give general guidance: rules vary by city, HOA and country, buyers should check locally, and hardwired installs should be done by a licensed electrician. Clear specs win searches. Specific legal advice is not something we write.

We sell saunas and cold plunges. One site or two?

Usually one. The buyers overlap, many want both, and one stronger site ranks better than two weaker ones. Separate collections, comparison pages and sauna plus plunge bundles let each category rank on its own searches.

How long until we see results?

Most stores see new pages indexed and impressions rising in the first one to two months, with clicks and revenue following over three to six months. Stores with some existing authority move faster. Nobody can honestly guarantee rankings, and we do not.

You’re in Shenzhen. How does that work for a US, UK or European brand?

Our content is written by native English writers and reviewed by our team in Shenzhen. The time difference works in your favor: feedback you send at the end of your day is often done by the next morning. Calls are booked at a time that suits you, and every page we publish is logged in a shared Google Sheet you can check.
