Shopify SEO for Greenhouse Brands

Greenhouse buyers search by size in feet, glazing, frame and climate, and they want to know about the base, the assembly and the snow before they order. Most greenhouse stores answer with a product grid and a manual in PDF. We build the size, glazing and climate pages, and the guides that close the sale.

The short version

What we do for greenhouse brands

SmartEcomSEO is a Shopify-only SEO agency based in Shenzhen. For brands selling polycarbonate, glass and lean-to greenhouse kits, garden buildings and sheds, and accessories like heaters, shelving and vents, we build the pages gardeners search for: sizes, glazing, frames and climates, assembly and foundation guides as readable pages, and accessory collections linked from every greenhouse they fit.

Our numbers come from other categories. One keyword we moved from page 3 to page 1 brought in a $130,000 single order. An automotive accessories brand turned 30 similar products into 360+ pages, and a crafting brand gained 1,000,000+ new visitors.

Sound familiar?

The problems we hear from greenhouse brands

Issue 01

“We sell the same greenhouse in eight sizes, and Google ranks the wrong one.”

Gardeners search “8x10 greenhouse”, not your model name. If every size is a variant on one page, only one size can rank.

Issue 02

“Shoppers ask about snow and wind, and the answer is in the manual.”

Load ratings and anchoring sit in a PDF. Buyers in cold or windy areas search for exactly that, and find someone else.

Issue 03

“Assembly worries cost us sales.”

How long does it take, how many people, what tools? If the product page doesn’t say, the buyer assumes the worst.

Issue 04

“Marketplaces and garden centres outrank us for ‘greenhouse kit’.”

The broad search goes to the biggest sites. Specific sizes, glazing types and climates are winnable with the right pages.

Issue 05

“All our sales come in spring.”

Buyers research in winter. If your pages go up in March, the people planning since January have already ordered.

Issue 06

“Our accessories get no traffic.”

Heaters, shelving, vent openers and shade cloth sit on one page. Each is searched on its own, and each fits a greenhouse you sell.

The playbook

Build pages for size, glazing and climate

Greenhouse buyers search in a very specific way: a size in feet, a glazing type, a frame and where they live. Most stores have one page per model and nothing else. Here’s how we turn the catalog into pages that match those searches on Shopify.

1. Decide which sizes get their own page#

If every size is a variant of one product, only one URL can rank for “8x10” or “10x12”. We build size collections for the sizes people search, and where sizes differ enough, give them separate products with their own copy. No pages with swapped numbers and copied text.

2. Explain glazing and frames#

Twin-wall polycarbonate by thickness, single-wall polycarbonate, horticultural glass vs toughened safety glass. Aluminium, galvanized steel and cedar frames. A comparison page and a collection for each, so buyers understand the price and the trade-offs.

3. Create climate pages#

“Greenhouses for snow”, “greenhouses for windy sites”, “greenhouses for hot climates”. Built on the load ratings, anchoring and ventilation the manufacturer actually states. We never invent a rating.

4. Turn manuals into pages#

Assembly time, number of people, tools needed and the step-by-step, published as HTML with video and a transcript. The PDF can stay as a download, but the page is what ranks.

5. Answer foundation and permit questions#

Timber bases, concrete footings, paving slabs, anchoring kits and orientation to the sun. On permits, a plain note that rules vary by area and HOA, so buyers should check locally. General and accurate, never legal advice.

Heaters, staging and shelving, automatic vent openers, shade cloth and irrigation, each with its own collection, linked from the greenhouses they suit. Then publish ahead of the season, so the pages rank when winter planning starts.

Content that closes

Answer the questions gardeners ask before they buy

Greenhouse buyers want to know three things: what size do I need, will it survive my weather, and can I put it up myself. Pages that answer those clearly rank for long searches that marketplaces answer badly.

Gardeners also read. A buyer who spends a winter evening on your size guide and your polycarbonate vs glass page is likely to come back to your store when it’s time to order.

  • What size greenhouse do I need: by beds, plants and walking room
  • Polycarbonate vs glass, and aluminium vs steel vs wood
  • Foundation and base guides for every greenhouse you sell
  • Year-round growing: heating, insulation and ventilation
  • Assembly guides and videos for each model

Technical

Technical problems specific to greenhouse stores

  • Size variants

Eight sizes hidden on one page, or eight copies of the same text, set up so each searched size can rank.

  • Manuals and specs in PDFs

Assembly steps, load ratings and dimensions published as HTML, with the PDF kept as a download.

  • Heavy pages

Large photos and assembly videos slowing product pages on mobile.

  • Product schema

Price, availability, brand, reviews and shipping details matched to Merchant Center.

  • Seasonal stock

Products that sell out in spring kept live with honest availability, not unpublished and losing their rankings.

  • UK, US and EU versions

Aluminium and aluminum, feet and metres, different prices and delivery, connected with hreflang.

Working together

How we’d start with your store

  1. Week 1

    Audit and catalog review

We crawl the store, read Search Console, and check how sizes are set up and how much of your spec and assembly content Google can read.

  2. Weeks 2–3

    Keyword and collection map

Which sizes, glazing types, shapes, climates and accessories have demand, and which collection and guide pages each one gets, timed for the season.

  3. Month 1 onward

    Build and publish

Around 20 collection pages and 20 articles a month on the standard plan, each checked by three people and logged in your live Google Sheet.

  4. Every week

    Check and report

Weekly checks of your best sellers and inventory so pages point at what’s in stock, and a monthly report on organic revenue.

People also ask

Questions greenhouse brands ask us

We sell one greenhouse in eight sizes. One page or eight?

Usually one product page plus size collections. Size collections like “8x12 greenhouses” win the size searches and show every model in that size. Separate product pages per size only make sense when each size has enough of its own to say, like different bracing, ratings or delivery. Eight pages with the same text and a swapped number do not rank.

Should our assembly manuals be on the site or just PDFs?

On the site. Google can index PDFs, but they rarely rank well and they send buyers away from your store. An HTML guide with time, tools, number of people and a video answers the question on your own page. Keep the PDF as a download for people who want to print it.

Do customers need a permit, and should we write about it?

Write about it in general terms. Whether a greenhouse needs permission depends on its size, height, location and local rules, and HOAs often have their own. We explain that clearly and tell buyers to check with their local authority. We do not give legal advice or promise that no permit is needed.

Our sales all happen in spring. When should we start?

In late summer or autumn. Gardeners plan over winter, and new pages take months to build up rankings. Pages published in September or October are in place when the January and February research starts.

We sell in the UK and the US. Do we need separate stores?

Not necessarily, but you need separate versions. Spellings, units, prices and delivery differ, and buyers search differently: aluminium vs aluminum, metres vs feet. Shopify Markets or separate stores can both work, connected with hreflang so each country sees the right version.

How long until we see results?

Most stores see new pages indexed and impressions rising in the first one to two months, with clicks and revenue following over three to six months. Stores with some existing authority move faster. Nobody can honestly guarantee rankings, and we do not.

Your team is in Shenzhen. How does that work for a UK or US greenhouse brand?

Our content is written by native English writers, in British or American English to match your market, and reviewed by our team in Shenzhen. The time difference means work happens while you sleep. Calls are booked at a time that suits you, and every page we publish is logged in a shared Google Sheet.
