# Is your Shopify store a good fit for SEO?

Enter your store and we run the same six checks we use before taking on any client: products, catalog focus, collections, average price, revenue and authority. Your Shopify SEO score in about 30 seconds.

## Check your Shopify store

Add your store URL and, if you like, your monthly revenue range. Revenue stays private. The result shows each check and what we found.

## Six checks, the same ones we use before taking a client

### Products

Enough products to build collection pages and content around. Below 30, there are usually too few buyer searches to win.

### One category

One overall niche, like 3D printing supplies or wine coolers. A store selling pet beds and pressure washers splits its authority, and neither side ranks well.

### Collections

Collections named after what buyers search (mechanical keyboards, 8ft pool tables), not merchandising lists like New Arrivals or Black Friday. Category collections are the pages that rank.

### Average price

Above about $45, each organic order is worth enough for SEO to pay back. Higher is fine, but you don’t need $1,000 products to be a good fit.

### Monthly revenue

At $100k+ a month, the business is proven. You’ve already solved what trips up new brands: customer service, finding customers and turning visits into orders. A stable store like that turns new search traffic into sales. You pick the range; it stays private.

### Domain Rating

Existing authority (Ahrefs DR 20+) helps new pages rank sooner. A lower DR is not a dealbreaker: one client went from DR 12 to 41 in 100 days, with links as part of the plan.

## What a high or low score means

### Ideal or good fit

You pass most of the checks: a focused catalog with enough products, prices that pay back and room to build category pages. Stores like this get the most from new collection pages, buying guides and technical fixes. Next step: a [free mini audit](/free-audit/) to see which pages to build first.

### Possible fit

One or two checks are holding you back, often collections named for merchandising rather than searches, or a young domain. The checklist shows which. Many stores fix that first, for example by building out [collection pages](/shopify-seo-services/collection-page-seo/) before investing in links.

### Not yet

Usually a small catalog, very low prices, a store spread across unrelated niches, or revenue under $50k a month. A monthly SEO retainer probably won't pay back yet. You can still use our free [Shopify SEO checklist](/tools/shopify-seo-checklist/) to get the basics right, and check again as you grow.

### What the check can't see

It doesn't know your margins, your repeat purchase rate or your brand's reputation offline. It's a starting point. For the full picture, [talk to us](/contact/).

## The same first check we run on every enquiry

Before we quote any Shopify store, we run the same six checks. Our best results come from focused stores with real catalogs: 3D printing brands, keyboard makers, press-on nails, wine coolers, pool tables. The stores that struggle are tiny catalogs, very low prices, or several unrelated niches under one roof.

Putting the check online saves you a call if SEO isn't right for you yet, and gives you a head start if it is.

- 30+ products in one overall category

- An average price above $45

- $100k+ a month in sales

## Frequently asked questions

### How is this different from other Shopify SEO checkers?

Most Shopify SEO checkers scan a page for rule-based issues such as missing alt text, long titles or slow images. Those are useful, but they cannot tell you whether SEO will make you money. This check looks at the business side: catalog size, catalog focus, collection names, average price, revenue and authority. It answers whether SEO is worth doing before you worry about how.

### What does Ahrefs DR have to do with my score?

Domain Rating is Ahrefs’ measure of a site’s backlink strength. It is not a Google metric, but it is a good proxy for how quickly new pages can rank. DR 20+ is a nice to have, not a requirement: a lower DR affects the timeline more than the outcome. One of our clients went from DR 12 to DR 41 in 100 days.

### My score is low. Should I give up on SEO?

Not permanently. A low score usually means a monthly retainer will not pay back yet, often because the catalog is small, prices are very low or the store covers unrelated niches. You can still get the basics right for free with our Shopify SEO checklist, keep building your range, and check again later.

### Why do you ask for my monthly revenue?

Revenue is the one thing public store data cannot show, and it tells us whether the business is proven. At $100k+ a month, a store has usually worked out customer service, finding customers and converting them, and it runs steadily. That is when new search traffic turns into sales. It is optional and only used for your result; leave it blank and we score the other five checks.

### Does a high score guarantee results?

No. The score estimates potential based on signals that have predicted results in our own work, but nobody can guarantee rankings. Competitors, content quality, technical debt and how fast you act all matter. A high score means SEO is likely to be worth investing in, and a free mini audit will show where the first wins are.

### Is the fit score free, and do I need an account?

It is free and you do not need an account. If you want us to follow up with a mini audit, you can leave your email, but that is optional. We explain how we handle tool data in our privacy policy.
