Since April 2026, Shopify B2B works on Basic, Grow and Advanced as well as Plus. Here is how to set up wholesale catalogs and gated pricing so trade buyers get their prices and Google still gets pages it can rank.

## Key takeaways

- Since April 2026, companies, quantity rules, volume pricing and net payment terms are available on every Shopify plan, with up to three B2B catalogs outside Plus.
- Gate prices, not pages. Wholesale buyers and Google should both be able to read product specs, applications and MOQs; only the trade price needs a login.
- A dedicated B2B store gated to logged-in buyers is invisible to Google by design. If trade buyers find you through search, you need public pages that rank.
- Googlebot sees your store logged out, so structured data must match the public price, never the wholesale price behind the login.
- Trade buyers search differently from consumers: "wholesale", "bulk", "commercial", "supplier" and spec-driven queries each deserve their own pages.

Wholesale on Shopify used to mean Plus or a stack of apps. That changed on April 2, 2026, when Shopify announced B2B features for the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans. For many of our high-ticket clients, who sell to consumers and also to gyms, restaurants, clinics, landscapers and resellers, this is the moment to add a trade channel.

It's also the moment to get the SEO right, because wholesale setups quietly remove pages from Google more often than any other change we see. This guide covers what changed, which store type to choose, and how to gate pricing without losing rankings.

## What Shopify B2B includes on each plan in 2026

Per Shopify's help center, the split now looks like this:

| Feature | Basic, Grow, Advanced | Plus |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Companies and company locations | Yes | Yes |
| Quantity rules and volume pricing | Yes | Yes |
| Net payment terms, payment reminders | Yes | Yes |
| Draft orders, PO numbers, easy reorders, quick order list | Yes | Yes |
| B2B catalogs | Up to 3, assigned to B2B markets | Unlimited, including catalogs assigned to specific companies |
| Deposits, partial payments | No | Yes |
| Theme editor customization by customer type | No | Yes |
| Contextual storefront and checkout by market | Advanced plan or higher | Yes |

Two practical notes. B2B catalogs on the non-Plus plans require Shopify's new Markets setup. And the limit of three catalogs means you'll price by buyer segment (for example "Dealers", "Distributors", "Commercial"), not by individual customer, unless you're on Plus.

## Blended or dedicated store: the SEO decision

Shopify offers two ways to run B2B.

|  | Blended store | Dedicated B2B store |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Setup | One store for DTC and B2B | A separate Shopify store for B2B only |
| Who sees what | Logged-out visitors see the retail store; logged-in B2B buyers see their catalog and prices | Can be gated so only logged-in B2B customers reach it |
| SEO impact | Public pages keep ranking; B2B pricing sits behind login | A gated store is invisible to search engines |
| Best for | Brands whose trade buyers also research on Google | Brands whose trade buyers all come from sales reps or existing accounts |

A gated dedicated store is a sensible choice when every trade buyer already knows you. It is a bad choice if you expect gym owners, restaurant managers or procurement teams to find you on Google, because a login page has nothing for Google to index.

> **Moving products into a gated store removes their rankings:** We've seen brands move their commercial range into a new gated B2B store and 301 the old public URLs to a login page. Every ranking for those products disappears. If a page ranks and brings trade enquiries, keep a public version of it.

## The core rule: gate prices, not pages

A procurement manager searching "commercial pellet grill for restaurants" wants to know capacity, fuel use, certifications, warranty and lead time before contacting anyone. Google wants the same things on the page before it ranks it. Only the trade price has to be private.

So a good B2B product or collection page shows publicly:

- Full specs, dimensions and materials
- Applications and who it's for
- Certifications and compliance
- MOQ, pack sizes and lead times
- Warranty and service terms
- A clear next step: "Log in for trade pricing" or "Apply for a trade account"

And it shows only to logged-in trade buyers:

- Their catalog price, volume tiers and payment terms
- Quick order and reorder tools

### Showing different messaging with Liquid

In a blended store, the Liquid `customer.b2b?` check lets your theme swap the call to action without hiding the page:

```liquid
{%- if customer and customer.b2b? -%}
  <p class="trade-note">Your trade price and volume tiers apply at checkout.</p>
{%- else -%}
  <p class="trade-note">
    Buying for a business? <a href="/pages/trade-program">Apply for a trade account</a>
    for volume pricing and net terms.
  </p>
{%- endif -%}
```

The public version is what Google and every logged-out buyer see, so write that version for them.

## What Google sees on a B2B store

Googlebot crawls your store logged out. That has three consequences.

1. **Structured data must match the public page.** Google's merchant listing guidelines expect the price in your Product markup to match what visitors see. Never put wholesale prices in schema on a page where logged-out visitors see retail prices or no price.
2. **Trade-only products without a public price** can still rank as normal pages, but they won't be eligible for merchant listings or price-based rich results. For these, keep Product markup honest: name, brand, images, GTIN or SKU, and no fake Offer.
3. **Anything only visible after login doesn't count.** Specs inside the B2B catalog view, gated PDFs or a wholesale-only product page Google can't reach add nothing to your rankings.

> **Don't use Unlisted for products you want found:** Shopify's Unlisted product status hides a product from search engines, Shopify Catalog and the sitemap. It's the right choice for bundle components or truly private items. For trade products you want procurement buyers to find, keep them published to the Online Store with a public page.

## Wholesale keywords are their own universe

Trade buyers search differently from consumers. We keep separate keyword lists and separate pages for them.

| Buyer type | Example searches | Page that ranks |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Reseller | "wholesale sauna kits", "become a [product] dealer" | Trade program or dealer page |
| Commercial user | "commercial pellet grill", "gym grade treadmill" | Commercial collection page |
| Industry buyer | "wine fridges for restaurants", "greenhouses for schools" | Industry collection page |
| Procurement | "[product] supplier", "bulk [product] pricing" | Trade program page with clear MOQ and quote path |
| Spec-driven | "3-phase sauna heater 9kW", "NSF certified refrigerator" | Product page with full specs |

Look on page one before building anything. For "wholesale X" searches, Google often ranks supplier landing pages and directories; for "commercial X" it usually ranks category pages. Build the page type Google already rewards. Our guide to [Shopify collection page SEO](/blog/shopify-collection-page-seo/) covers the collection side.

## Page types that bring in B2B buyers

These are the pages we build for a B2B channel on Shopify:

- **Trade program page.** Who qualifies, benefits, MOQs, payment terms, how to apply. This ranks for "wholesale [category]" and "[brand] dealer" searches and converts better than a bare login screen.
- **Commercial and industry collections.** "Commercial saunas for gyms", "outdoor kitchens for hospitality". Public product grids with specs and a trade call to action.
- **Spec and compliance pages.** Downloadable spec sheets that are also readable as HTML, so Google can index them.
- **Project case studies.** Installations for hotels, clubs or schools, with photos and specs. These earn links and answer the "who else uses this" question.
- **Buying guides for trade buyers.** Sizing a commercial sauna, choosing a commercial grill. Our [high-ticket buying guides](/blog/high-ticket-buying-guides/) post covers the format.

**Adding wholesale to your Shopify store?** We plan B2B catalogs, trade pages and structured data so trade buyers get their prices and Google keeps your rankings. [See B2B SEO](/shopify-seo-services/b2b-seo/)

## Technical pitfalls we check on B2B launches

| Pitfall | Why it hurts | Fix |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Password page on a store that used to be public | Google can't crawl anything | Keep public pages public; gate only what needs gating |
| Price-hiding apps that load prices with JavaScript | Schema and visible price disagree; crawlers see inconsistent data | Use native B2B catalogs where possible |
| Duplicate "wholesale" copies of retail products | Two pages compete for the same keywords | One product, different catalog prices |
| B2B landing pages with no internal links | Google finds them late or not at all | Link trade pages from the footer, relevant collections and guides |
| Login-only spec sheets | Specs don't count toward rankings | Publish specs as HTML on the public page |
| Retail and trade copy mixed on every page | Neither audience finds its answer | Keep consumer and commercial collections separate |

Most of this is the same technical SEO discipline as any Shopify store. If you haven't audited the basics, start with the [Shopify SEO checklist](/blog/shopify-seo-checklist/).

## Moving from a wholesale app or a separate wholesale site

Many brands already run wholesale somewhere: a price-list app, a password-protected second store, or a separate wholesale website on another platform. Moving it onto native Shopify B2B is usually worth it, but treat it as a small migration.

1. **Crawl the old setup.** List every public URL, especially trade program pages, dealer pages and spec sheets that already rank or earn links.
2. **Decide what stays public.** Anything that ranks for trade keywords should keep a public URL on the new setup.
3. **Map redirects.** Point each old URL at its closest equivalent, not at the homepage or a login page. Our guide to [redirects at scale](/blog/shopify-redirects-at-scale/) covers bulk imports.
4. **Remove the old price logic.** Leftover app scripts that hide or rewrite prices can conflict with B2B catalogs and confuse structured data.
5. **Check Search Console for 4 to 8 weeks.** Watch for trade pages dropping out of the index, and for new "Blocked" or "Redirect" statuses.

### Keeping retail and trade from competing

In a blended store, the retail "saunas" collection and a commercial "saunas for gyms" collection can overlap heavily. Give each a distinct keyword, distinct copy and a distinct product selection where possible, and link between them: consumers who land on the commercial page should find the retail range in one click, and gym owners on the retail page should see the trade program. Our [collection page guide](/blog/shopify-collection-page-seo/) covers how to avoid cannibalization between similar collections.

## Trade buyers use AI assistants too

Procurement research increasingly starts in ChatGPT, Copilot or Google's AI Mode: "which commercial saunas suit a 24-hour gym", "suppliers of NSF certified wine fridges". Those answers are built from public pages, so everything above applies twice. A gated catalog gives AI assistants nothing to read or cite, while a public trade program page, commercial collections with real specs and project case studies give them facts to quote.

Shopify also excludes B2B-only and wholesale products from its AI channel syndication when it can identify them, so for trade buyers the open web matters even more than product feeds. Clear, consistent facts help: the same MOQ, warranty and lead time on your trade page, spec sheets and third-party directory listings. Our [GEO agency](/geo-agency/) work covers how AI assistants choose which suppliers to mention.

## Measuring B2B SEO

B2B conversions don't always look like orders. Track:

- **Trade account applications** submitted from organic landing pages
- **Quote requests and draft orders** that started with an organic visit
- **New B2B companies created** each month
- **Rankings and clicks** for your commercial and wholesale keyword lists in Search Console

One B2B sale can pay for a year of SEO. Nick, who runs a high-ticket medical equipment store in Austin, told us he sold a **$130,000 unit** from a keyword we moved from page 3 to page 1. That order didn't come from a checkout flow; it came from a buyer who found the right page.

## FAQs

### Is Shopify B2B available without Shopify Plus?

Yes. Since April 2026, Shopify B2B features are available on the Basic, Grow and Advanced plans, including companies, quantity rules, volume pricing, net payment terms, draft orders and quick order lists. Non-Plus plans are limited to three B2B catalogs and cannot assign catalogs to individual companies. Deposits and partial payments remain Plus-only.

### Will hiding wholesale prices hurt my Shopify SEO?

Not if you hide only the prices. Googlebot crawls logged out, so it never sees trade prices anyway. What hurts is hiding the whole page: gated stores, password pages or products set to Unlisted. Keep specs, applications, MOQs and a clear trade call to action public, and show catalog pricing to logged-in B2B customers.

### Should I use a blended or dedicated store for Shopify B2B?

For SEO, blended is usually better, because your public product and collection pages keep ranking and trade buyers log in to see their prices. A dedicated store makes sense when B2B needs separate inventory, branding or a fully private catalog. If you gate a dedicated store, expect it to get no organic traffic and plan public trade pages elsewhere.

### What structured data should a Shopify B2B product page use?

The same Product markup as any product page, based on what logged-out visitors see. If the page shows a public retail price, include it in the Offer. If there is no public price, keep name, brand, images, SKU or GTIN and omit the Offer rather than inventing one. Never put wholesale catalog prices in markup that the public cannot see.
